"Ethnic Studies" is rooted in Critical Race Theory

The California Department of Education (CDE) has released the latest draft of their Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum (ESMC).

State legislators have introduced bill AB 101 mandating Ethnic Studies as a high school graduation requirement. An Ethnic Studies bill was vetoed by governor Newsom last year, but our relentless legislators are being pressured by the special interest groups into passing this bill once again.

State legislators have also introduced bill AB 1040 proposing Ethnic Studies as a community college graduation requirement that could also be transferred to the CSU.

On August 17, 2020 AB 1460 was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom mandating all students attending a California State University (CSU) take a 3 unit Ethnic Studies class in order to graduate.

On October 8, 2021 AB 101 was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newson making California the first state to require all students to complete a minimum of one semester long course in Ethnic Studies in order to earn a high school diploma.  The mandate will take effect starting with the graduating class of 2029-30, although several school high have already started require the course in order to received a diploma.
